Sub-processors
To deliver the service we rely on infrastructure providers. These are the categories, what we use them for and what we require of them.
Sub-processor categories
| Category | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Cloud infrastructure | Platform hosting, databases and backups |
| Content delivery network | Static file delivery and attack protection |
| Transactional email | Notices, alerts and password recovery |
| SMS gateway | Notifications and commands to devices without a data connection |
| Push notifications | Alerts to the mobile applications |
| Mapping | Map layers, geocoding and route calculation |
| Monitoring and error logging | Platform observability and incident diagnosis |
What we require of them
- A written data processing agreement.
- A confidentiality obligation extending to their staff.
- Security measures equivalent to ours.
- A prohibition on using the data for their own purposes.
- An obligation to notify any security incident.
- Return or deletion of the data when the relationship ends.
- Standard contractual clauses where there is an international transfer and the GDPR applies.
Changes to the list
We publish the current list by category here. Clients with a processing agreement may request the named detail of providers, and we give them reasonable advance notice of a new sub-processor so they can object on reasoned grounds.
